Questions & Answers -

  • Is your milk and beef antibiotic free?
Yes, our milk and beef will ALWAYS be antibiotic free. It is also hormone free! It is actually illegal for milk and meat to have antibiotics in it. If one of our milk cows gets sick and we have to give her antibiotics, her milk has to be tested to ensure that the antibiotics are completely gone before the milk can be used. Antibiotics are very expensive and we do not use them unless we have no other options. We are dedicated to responsible antibiotic use, if we have to use them to save a cows life. The same principle goes for our beef, it will also always be antibiotic free! We do not use any forms of growth hormones.

  • Why are your jersey cows so thin, is it unhealthy?
Our jersey cows are the hardest working individuals on the farm and they use a lot of calories to produce delicious milk. Milk cows, in general, are thin and bony. Cows for milk production put their calories into making milk. Our beef cows put their energy and calories into body mass. Dairy cows are intended to be thin, this is the healthiest way for them to be. Fat dairy cows have many health issues and will not be as productive. Dairy cows will lose and gain weight depending upon what stage of lactation they are in. For more reading, please visit this website:
